Sounds Like Summer Festival Postponed

The festival described as ‘Auckland's freshest boutique music festival’, Sounds like Summer, has been postponed.

Around 1,500 people were expected to attend the Sounds Like Summer Festival to be held in Omaha this weekend, but unfortunately the event has been put off in the wake of two more people testing positive for Covid-19 following their stint in managed isolation.

The line-up included Kiwi reggae legends Black Seeds, The Beths, who were recently named New Zealand's Best Alternative Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards, along with Summer Thieves, Mini Simmons, Little Sunday, Hvia, Skye, Tito and plenty of other great Kiwi artists.

"After consulting with the Ministry of Health as well as other interested groups, we felt it would be irresponsible to operate a festival and gathering of this size on the boundary of the Northland region," said spokesperson Jade Atkinson in a press release posted on the festival's social media pages.

The decision not to go ahead was largely influenced by having many of the festivalgoers coming locally, likely from areas which may have been visited by those people who have recently tested positive after their stay in managed isolation.

Organisers have yet to announce alternative dates for the festival.
